Visit the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Rainforest for a day of wildlife, learning & fun! Spend the day feeding giraffes at the Giraffe Encounter, witnessing the African Elephant Crossing, walking through one of the largest primate collections in all of North America, and experiencing an indoor thunderstorm inside the Rainforest. With more than 3,000 animals, the Cleveland Zoo has something for everyone! Be sure to wear your walking shoes and dress for the weather, this event is held rain or shine. Please plan to arrive promptly when the zoo opens at 10am but feel free to explore at your leisure and stay as long as you like. Children under 2 years old are free and do not need a ticket. **This is a ticketed event, no refunds will be given for cancellations after Sunday, March 24 unless another member on waitlist is able to purchase the ticket.**

Zoo members do not need to register through SECPTA but are welcome to join us there!!

Join us for a morning out in nature with a scavenger hunt at Frohring Meadows. We will meet in the Katydid Lodge and go from there. This 298-acre park features a 100-acre prairie and trails through the woodlands. Two trails total 3.5 miles. After the scavenger hunt, all ages will enjoy a Pollinator Play Garden, added in 2022 by the Foundation for Geauga Parks, and tetherball nearby the lodge. A pizza lunch will be provided along with juice boxes. Dress for the weather, and we‘ll see you there! (In case of particularly bad weather, activities will be planned for inside Katydid Lodge along with the pizza).

Join SECPTA at The Treehouse for an open studio type play experience. This event is for 2–5 year-olds to play, climb and socialize in our space with all of our fun equipment and toys. In the meantime, parents can mingle and relax. Kids will be able to work their way through a series of gross motor, fine motor, and sensory activities related to a playful theme. Common activities include: movement games, fine motor craft activities, and sensory exploration.

SECPTA members will enjoy an early civics lesson as the meet the mayor of Solon and a Solon city councilman (and SECPTA dad!) too! We will get a tour of city hall and the mayor’s office and learn about what the employees do there. We will visit the city council chambers and “vote” on some important issues like, which is the best dessert, cupcakes or ice cream? We will read a story and share a snack with our SECPTA and city hall friends. *This event is limited to 40 people.*

Head downtown with the whole family for Great Lakes Science Center‘s Total Eclipse Fest 2024! This event is held Saturday April 6 - Monday April 8, 10am-5pm each day. Partnering with NASA Glenn Research Center and The Cleveland Orchestra, the festival is a free three-day celestial celebration at North Coast Harbor in downtown Cleveland. This outdoor, family-friendly event will feature hands-on science and STEAM activities, food vendors, entertainment, free eclipse-viewing glasses, information about how to safely view the eclipse, and a free community concert performed by the Cleveland Orchestra (at 1:30 PM on Sunday. April 7). NASA experts will be onsite to engage with the public and NASA TV will be broadcasting live from the event on Monday, April 8. This event is open to the public from 10 AM - 5 PM each day, and will take place on the Great Lakes Science Center property and surrounding area behind the building and Voinovich Park. No tickets are required and all ages are welcome. Because of the excitement around this event and Cleveland‘s location along the path of totality, crowds are anticipated to be around 5,000 per day on Saturday and Sunday and up to 30,000 people on Monday. Calling all chefs ages 4 and up! Enjoy a fun, hands-on cooking event at the Young Chefs Academy! Your young chef(s) will make personal pizzas (cheese or pepperoni) from scratch, doing all the mixing, measuring, and preparation involved! Best of all, at the end, the children will eat what they made and take a copy of the recipe home. This is a drop-off event and older siblings are welcome! *This class is strictly for children ages 4 and up and is limited to 35 kids. No parents will be permitted in the kitchen with the kids, there is a lobby out front where adults can wait if they choose. The children will be working with the chefs and cooking assistants.*

Join SECPTA friends for an Eid al-Fitr celebration at the Chagrin Valley Islamic Center. Eid, means “feast, festival, or holiday“ in Arabic, so we will be enjoying snacks and music to celebrate with friends new and old. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the month of Ramadan, during which many Muslims fast from dawn until sunset each day. During the celebration we will do crafts, (including making a homemade playdoh craft!), read a story, and meet some other local families with young children who will share with us about how they celebrate the holiday! *This event is limited to 50 people.*

**Date of this event is TBD, as it depends on the facility‘s availability which is not announced until the week prior. Will either be Saturday April 20 or Sunday April 21 at 10am and all registrants will be notified ASAP to keep or cancel their registration!** Come jump with us at Lake County‘s biggest bounce house! The Jump Yard is an indoor play place that has plenty of fun activities for the kids including four giant inflatable play structures, an infant/toddler area for kids 3 years and under, an interactive floor projector with a variety of games, and a concession stand featuring delicious treats and healthy snacks! Kids of all ages are welcome but must be over 30 inches tall to play on the bounce houses. Socks are required for all visitors (regular socks are fine!). Adults and babies under one year of age are free. **This is a ticketed event, no refunds will be given for cancellations after Monday, April 15 unless another member on waitlist is able to purchase the ticket.**

Hey adults come out and learn how to shoot archery with us! Ever watch Brave one too many times and have an itch to try out Merida‘s favorite sport, well now is your chance!


We will be under the direction of J & J outdoors. In the lesson we would explore the fundamentals taking a deep dive into the safety protocols with the archery range. We will also discuss the tools and equipment we use to set up our archery equipment. We will then explore what building a proper archery shot looks like and how we create consistency in our process. We will wrap up with a talk about continuing our education and progressive skills development. Bring you enthusiasm to learn, all the equipment will be provided for us.

In collaboration with Solon Center of the Arts (SCA), we will be offering a summer camp featuring a daily focus. Session #1 is from 9-10:30am each day during the week of July 1 (no class on July 4). Camp will focus on a different discipline each day: Art, Dance, Theater, and Music! ART – Let’s get these little artists being messy and creative. They will express themselves in multimedia projects but also refine fine motor skills such as holding a pencil and cutting. THEATER - This class will introduce your little ones to the stage as we explore the basic fundamentals of theater. Students will play theater games that explore using their voices, bodies and imaginations to create stories and have fun! Students will explore songs, games and more as we play together in the world of Theater. DANCE - With a focus on rhythmic awareness, active movement and basic coordination, this class for little ones will provide a fun and engaging introduction to movement! Young students explore forms of self-expression and imagination through guided movement, activities and games! Students will improve basic coordination and rhythm while learning to dance. MUSIC - instruments, song, and a creative introduction to musical concepts. Students must be potty trained and between ages 3-7. **This is a ticketed event, no refunds will be given for cancellations unless you are able to find another member who is able to take your place.**

Please note the difference in registration for this event! Members only need to register their children for our summer camps. If you are signing up one kid then register as "Me Only" if you have more than one kid then register as "Me + Guest."
